ABOUT ME

With over 25 years of coaching experience, Brian has worked with athletes from grade school to the collegiate level. As a head assistant at St. Francis Xavier, Brian both played and served under the tutelage of legendary coach, Steve Konchalski – the “winningest” coach in Canadian university sport history, and one who has taken Canada’s national team to three Olympic Games.

Brian learned to play the game of basketball in the streets of New York and in Ontario. He was Captain of the 1993 Men’s Basketball National Championship Team at St. Francis Xavier University, a National Championship All-Star, and an AAU Conference All-Star. Brian is currently among the top assist, 3-point and scoring leaders in the history of St. Francis Xavier. In 2008, Brian was inducted into to the St. Francis Xavier University Sports Hall of Fame.

As the Head Coach of St. George’s Varsity basketball teams from 1999-2009, Brian has led his teams to nine Lower Mainland Championship appearances and eight BC AAA Boys Provincial Championship berths. His teams have won the BC Independent League seven times, the Lower Mainland Championships and most notably won the BC Provincial AAA Boys Championship in 2009. Dozens of his players have received athletic scholarships and have competed at the university and professional levels.

Since 1995, Brian has been coaching clinics for youths throughout BC. He has been named the 2005 Ken Wright BC Provincial Boys Basketball. Coach of the Year, 2006-07 Northern Athletics Coaching Award, the 2009 Mike Potkonjak Lower Mainland Coach of the Year, and awarded the 2009 Basketball British Columbia – High School Coaching Excellence Award.

Brian holds a Master in Education Administration, Bachelor in Education, and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree. He is a Senior Administrator and the Associate Principal at St. George’s School in Vancouver.

Brian and his wife Roxane have three children: Deja, Torian and Zane .
